These artifacts were primarily employed by the Coastal Sages along the Western coast of the Iron-Grip Mountains, who required them for safe passage during the volatile era preceding the Great Sundering. Their continued study is crucial for monitoring external threats, as they offer the only reliable foresight into events like the cyclical Tide of Drowning.
