Korgoth, The Stone Guardian
Korgoth, unlike the silent Stone Sentinels that guard the passes of the Iron-Grip Mountains, was not crafted from stone, but was born of it. Legend states that Korgoth emerged from the earth near The Resonance Well, fully formed and armed, during The Schism of Stone and Sky. He was a protector of the Deep-Delvers, fiercely loyal to Elder Vorin, tasked with defending the ancient ways against the heretical Sky-Seers. He fought with unmatched ferocity, his hammer crushing bone and stone alike, becoming a symbol of the Deep-Delvers' unwavering commitment to tradition.
Some whispered that Korgoth was not merely a dwarf, but a Stone Spirit of the Deep given physical form. His eyes glowed with an inner light, and he seemed to possess an uncanny ability to sense danger. While others say he was touched by The Gaze of the Deep. In my opinion, these theories must come from the Truthseekers, and are therefore likely falsified. Korgoth also seems to have a connection to a new, undiscovered location: The Sentinel Spire.
After the Great Sundering, Korgoth vanished, along with many other Deep-Delvers. Some believe he retreated into the Caverns of the Reforged, continuing his vigil in the shadows. Others whisper that he fell victim to the Chitinous Swarm. Now, Elder Borin's Chronicles states, Korgoth remains a figure of legend, a reminder of a time when the dwarves were united in their devotion to the earth. The Cobalt Corsairs would not find the body of Korgoth a valuable one, for his equipment is as solid as the stone of the mountains. Even the Silent Monks of Durin's Peak whisper his name, as a figure of respect and dedication to the natural order. Perhaps he will return, when the world needs him most, to wield the Umbral Hammer once again.
