The Deep-Delvers

The Deep-Delvers are not merely a faction, but an embodiment of a fundamental dwarven philosophy. They are the staunch traditionalists, those who believe the true destiny of the dwarves lies not in gazing at the sky or trading with surface dwellers, but in delving ever deeper into the earth, seeking out its hidden secrets and safeguarding its treasures. They are the echoes of a bygone era, reminiscent of the Silent Monks of Durin's Peak, before The Schism of Stone and Sky, before the allure of the surface world began to corrupt dwarven values. They see the Dwarven Abbey, with its scholars like Archivist Theron, as a breeding ground for dangerous ideas, a place where ancient traditions are questioned and discarded. The Gnomish Tinkers and their contraptions are viewed with deep suspicion, their reckless tinkering a threat to the delicate balance of the underground realm. They despise the meddling of the Order of the Azure Hand in the Auric Resonance of the earth, believing that only those who truly understand the ancient ways should wield such power. They believe the Skyclaw Griffons are abominations created by surface meddling.

The Deep-Delvers follow the teachings of Elder Vorin, whose unyielding adherence to tradition led to the cataclysmic Great Sundering. They sought to keep the knowledge of Resonance Weaving pure and free from outside influence, fearing its misuse could unleash untold devastation, which is what they thought happened to the Lost City of Umbral. They believe The Sunstone of Aethelgard is a dangerous artifact, best left buried deep within the earth. The Crimson Cartographers are viewed as untrustworthy, their maps leading to forgotten and dangerous places, like the Obsidian Labyrinth. Their strongholds can be found in places like the Caverns of the Reforged, hidden deep beneath the Iron-Grip Mountains. Their greatest fear is that The Forgotten Smith’s secrets will be used for nefarious purposes. The Shadow-Goblins are a perversion of dwarven nature, and must be eliminated. The Vault of Whispers is to be sealed, lest it corrupt dwarven minds. They constantly war with the Chitinous Swarm in the deep places. Can the Cobalt Corsairs possibly help them?
