The Forgotten Smith
The Forgotten Smith, a dwarven artisan whose name has been scrubbed from official records, is whispered to be a renegade. He mastered Resonance Weaving, not to create weapons or fortify strongholds, but to unlock the earth's secrets and defy the rigid traditions of dwarven society. Legend says that the Truthseekers hid knowledge about the Smith. Some claim he was banished from The Dwarven Abbey for his heretical experiments with Auric Resonance, deemed too dangerous and unpredictable by the Keepers of the Cog. Others believe he foresaw The Great Sundering and attempted to warn his people, but was silenced by those who clung to power. Unlike the Gnomish Tinkers, he disdained technology for the sake of progress and innovation and focused on harmony with nature. He felt Aetherium Conduits were a perversion of nature.
This rogue artisan may have established a hidden forge somewhere within the Iron-Grip Mountains, a place known only as The Umbral Anvil, where he continued his work in secret, crafting artifacts of immense power and unpredictable purpose. This forge is said to be protected by elemental guardians and riddled with traps designed to confound even the most skilled adventurers. The Silent Forges are said to have copied some of his work, but his skill could not be replicated. Archivist Theron would kill to uncover any artifacts The Smith created, even venturing into the Obsidian Labyrinth in search of these artifacts. The Crimson Cartographers may hold a map leading to his hidden forge, but they guard it jealously, fearing the potential consequences of revealing his secrets. The Order of the Azure Hand seeks to destroy any trace of his existence, viewing him as a threat to their control over Auric Resonance. The Shadow-Goblins whisper his name with fear, sensing the disruptive energies that linger in his wake. Did the Smith work with the Lost City of Umbral to help the dwarves avoid destruction? It is believed the Skyclaw Griffons may guard the entrance to his hidden forge. Perhaps The Sunstone of Aethelgard was one of his creations, a tool meant to channel and control the earth's energies. The Silent Monks of Durin's Peak believe he will only return after the Chitinous Swarm are dealt with. Does he have anything to do with the Cobalt Corsairs?
