Cloud Keepers

The Cloud Keepers are the descendants of the Aerilon Ascendancy, a secluded society dwelling within the Cloud Cities of Aerilon. Unlike the earthbound dwarves who delve into the Iron-Grip Mountains, the Cloud Keepers have embraced the sky, becoming masters of aerial navigation and Resonance Weaving. Their society is built upon a delicate balance between technological advancement and spiritual harmony, drawing energy from the Auric Resonance of the atmosphere and utilizing it to maintain their floating cities. The Skystrider Paths are essential to their trade.

Cloud Keeper society is highly stratified, with a ruling council of Aerilonian Wardens who oversee the city's defenses and ensure the well-being of its citizens. Beneath them are the Cloud Corsairs of Aerilon, skilled pilots and traders who navigate the treacherous skies, exchanging goods with other floating settlements and occasionally venturing down to the surface to trade with the Floating Market of Zephyr. They are wary of outsiders, viewing surface dwellers with a mixture of curiosity and disdain. They view the Cobalt Corsairs as uncouth sky pirates. The Cloud Keepers follow a philosophy of detachment and balance, believing that emotional extremes can disrupt the delicate harmony of the skies. They view the events of the Great Sundering as a cautionary tale, a consequence of unchecked ambition and the pursuit of power. They have written about this in a new Chapter of Ascendancy. They are particularly wary of the Order of the Azure Hand, viewing their manipulations of Aetherium Conduits as a dangerous threat to the stability of the skies. They believe the Sunstone of Aethelgard holds the key to their continued survival. The Silent Monks of Durin's Peak respect their position, and occasionally send gifts of food and supplies. They have erected the Sky Mirrors of Aerilon to help them see the future. Is it possible that the Forgotten Smith knew how to construct their cities? They fiercely defend their territory from the predations of the Skyclaw Griffons.
