Resonance Weaving
Resonance Weaving: A forgotten art practiced by the dwarves before The Schism of Stone and Sky, it involves the manipulation of sonic vibrations to alter the physical properties of materials and even the surrounding environment. Imagine a dwarven artisan, standing before a raw piece of Aetherium, not striking it with hammer and tongs, but rather humming a precise sequence of notes. As the notes rise and fall, the Aetherium begins to glow, its form subtly shifting and reshaping itself in response to the vibrations. This is Resonance Weaving in its purest form. The skill is not limited to metal or stone. Practitioners can use Resonance Weaving to accelerate plant growth, to communicate with subterranean creatures, or even to influence the weather, within localized zones.
The Silent Forges, were powered by intricate networks of resonating crystals, their output far surpassing anything achievable through traditional smithing methods. The principles of Resonance Weaving are encoded within Elder Borin's Chronicles, but only those with the correct aptitude and training can decipher them. Archivist Theron believes that the Order of the Azure Hand have secretly maintained some knowledge of Resonance Weaving, hiding it within their Obsidian Pinnacle. Is The Sunstone of Aethelgard the key to mastering it?
The Crimson Cartographers are possibly using Resonance Weaving to locate underground waterways. But the art is not without its dangers. Overuse can lead to instability, causing earthquakes, landslides, and other natural disasters. The Great Sundering could have been due to an experiment in Resonance Weaving which went disastrously wrong. The Shadow-Goblins resonate with the negative repercussions caused by Resonance Weaving, which may be why the creatures are drawn to these events. The Skyclaw Griffons may be able to sense fluctuations in the earth's resonant frequencies, thus the birds were drawn to the Iron-Grip Mountains. The Gnomish Tinkers strive to create new technology based on the forgotten art, though the Forgotten Smith frowns upon their misinterpretations. The technology used by the Cobalt Corsairs may be a crude form of Resonance Weaving. It is said that the Silent Monks of Durin's Peak use the skill in order to enter a deep meditative state. It is unknown if the Chitinous Swarm can be affected by Resonance Weaving. One location, Echoing Cairns, are a result of its abuse.
