Architect Vorlag
Architect Vorlag... a name that echoes both innovation and tragedy throughout the Lost City of Umbral. As Chronicler of the Dwarven Abbey, I must account for him in my official writings. Before the Great Sundering, Vorlag was hailed as a visionary, a master of Resonance Weaving whose architectural marvels reshaped the Umbral skyline. He pushed the boundaries of what dwarves believed possible, constructing soaring towers and intricate networks of Aetherium Conduits that harnessed the earth’s energies, bringing prosperity and technological advancement to Umbral.
However, Vorlag’s ambition knew no bounds. He sought to unlock the secrets of the universe, pushing the limits of Auric Resonance manipulation despite the warnings of Anya, the Gloom Weaver, whom he brushed aside. In his hubris, he disregarded the delicate balance of nature, setting in motion the events that led to Umbral's downfall and The Great Sundering. Now, Vorlag’s legacy is one of ruin. The shattered remains of his grand designs litter the landscape, a testament to the devastating consequences of unchecked ambition.
Some whisper that Vorlag's spirit still haunts the ruins of Umbral, forever tormented by the destruction he wrought. Did he find guidance from The Forgotten Smith, or did his pride lead to his demise? Perhaps the answers lie hidden within the Vault of Whispers, waiting to be uncovered. Now, The Crimson Cartographers chart his errors, so that others may learn from them. Did he ever come across the Chitinous Swarm? Even the Cobalt Corsairs have heard whispers regarding this architect, while the Silent Monks of Durin's Peak speak of his tale as a warning against defying the earth's natural order. He may have become corrupted by The Gaze of the Deep.
