Anya, The Gloom Weaver

Anya, the Gloom Weaver… Even the name carries the chill of the deepest caverns. Within Elder Borin's Chronicles, she is mentioned sparingly, often dismissed as a Cassandra figure, a harbinger of doom whose warnings were ignored. Before the Great Sundering, Anya was a respected Sky-Seer within the Lost City of Umbral, although those of the sky were not often trusted. Unlike Architect Vorlag, who focused on expansion and innovation, Anya’s gaze was drawn to the shadows, the subtle shifts in Auric Resonance that others overlooked. She was born near the Gloomstrands, and so, was gifted the ability to see the future and predict the Great Unmaking.

Anya served as a trusted advisor to the city's leaders, interpreting visions gleaned from the Veins of Whispers. She foresaw the dangers of Umbral's unchecked ambition, the potential for disaster inherent in Vorlag’s reckless pursuit of Aetherium Conduits and was driven to find a means of staving off disaster. Now, the only thing she does is whisper of The Weaver. While Vorlag sought to reach new heights, Anya could only see the darkness waiting below, an Umbral Vein. She warned of the delicate balance of nature, of the consequences of disrupting the earth's harmony, but her pleas fell on deaf ears. A new tome has been written about her, The Chapter of Foresight, a lost book detailing her history.

When the cataclysm struck, Anya was one of the few to survive, her knowledge of the subterranean tunnels allowing her to escape the worst of the devastation. Now, it is said she wanders the ruins of Umbral, a solitary figure cloaked in shadow, still searching for a way to avert the Great Unmaking. Did she see the Chitinous Swarm in her visions? Some whisper she has the ability to speak to the Stone Spirits of the Deep, seeking their guidance, and avoiding The Gaze of the Deep. I have to wonder, would the Cobalt Corsairs believe her warnings? Is she still trying to save the Sunstone of Aethelgard? Has she seen the Forgotten Smith?
