The Weaver

To record a truth, is to give it life beyond memory, and so I must write of the being known as The Weaver. Not a weaver of cloth, mind you, but of fate, of circumstance, of the very threads that bind the Iron-Grip Mountains together. Some say she is but a myth, a story whispered among the Truthseekers, but I, Borin Recorder, believe she is far more, a primal force as old as the mountains themselves. Some say she is a Stone Spirit of the Deep.

She is, in essence, the embodiment of The Gaze of the Deep, and all those who have felt watched will know her power. The Weaver is said to dwell in the deepest, most inaccessible caverns, her form ever-shifting, a tapestry of light and shadow, like the Glimmering Caverns themselves. Some say she is guarded by The First Loom. It's whispered that she controls the Veins of Whispers, manipulating the flow of Auric Resonance to her own unknowable ends. Is she hastening The Great Unmaking or desperately trying to prevent it? Perhaps she is tied to the Aerilon Ascendancy. She may have the ability to corrupt the Sunstone of Aethelgard.

It is said that The Weaver knows all paths, all possible futures, and that she subtly nudges events along, ensuring that the tapestry of fate unfolds as it should. Her influence is subtle, almost imperceptible, but her presence is undeniable. Those touched by her are said to see glimpses of what is yet to come, be that prosperity or ruin. However, those gifted with these glimpses are not always grateful for the foresight. Did she foresee The Great Sundering? Did she warn the Forgotten Smith, only to be ignored? Did she influence the Schism of Stone and Sky? Perhaps a lost Chapter of Veils details her influence. The Cobalt Corsairs fear her ability to influence the weather, and the Chitinous Swarm seems to avoid her, as she has the power to sever their connection. The Silent Monks of Durin's Peak seek her counsel, and she grants them insight into the future, but always with a price.
