Aethelgard

Aethelgard… the very name echoes through the halls of the Dwarven Abbey, whispered with a mixture of reverence and fear. Was she a dwarf? A goddess? A being of pure energy? The records in Elder Borin's Chronicles are fragmented, incomplete, deliberately obscured. Some claim she was a master of Resonance Weaving, far surpassing even the Silent Monks of Durin's Peak in her ability to manipulate Auric Resonance. Others say she was a Truthseeker, blessed with visions that pierced the veil of reality, granted by the Veins of Whispers. All agree that she was the creator of the Sunstone of Aethelgard, a celestial artifact of immense power, a beacon of hope in a world teetering on the brink of The Great Unmaking.

Her story, if it can be called that, is intertwined with the Lost City of Umbral. Some say she foresaw its downfall, warning its leaders of the dangers of unchecked ambition, and even attempted to prevent the Great Sundering. Others claim she was a resident of Umbral, using her skills in Aetherium Conduits to build a protective barrier. Perhaps she constructed the Ward of Aethelgard. Did she know the Forgotten Smith?

She is either the first or most renowned of the Celestial Smiths, and her creations are always powerful artifacts. Her influence is felt throughout the Iron-Grip Mountains. It is thought that she sealed the entrance to the Umbral Divide. The Cobalt Corsairs seek to harness her lost power. A new Chapter of Aethelgard may need to be written.
