Shadow-Goblins
Shadow-Goblins are manifestations of concentrated shadow, animated by the residual sorrow and regret lingering after The Great Sundering. They are drawn to places of immense power and subsequent destruction, like moths to a dying flame. They are not mere scavengers or raiders; they are collectors of memories, of pain, of the very essence of loss. Their existence is intertwined with the fate of the Lost City of Umbral, where they were born from the city's demise, fueled by the unleashed Auric Resonance and corrupted Aetherium Conduits. The goblins are constantly seeking ways to either find what was lost in Umbral, or to recreate the event that formed them. They infest the deepest, darkest recesses of the Iron-Grip Mountains, their forms shifting and swirling like smoke, making them difficult to detect. They have a particular affinity for Obsidian Shards, which they use to amplify their shadowy powers and create illusions. Unlike their more corporeal goblin cousins, Shadow-Goblins are immune to most physical attacks, but vulnerable to strong light and positive emotions. The light of The Sunstone of Aethelgard wards them, but a strong sense of hope and love can also banish them, a phenomenon that the Silent Monks of Durin's Peak have studied extensively. Archivist Theron believes they are drawn to locations where Resonance Weaving was practiced, hoping to glean fragments of lost knowledge. The Order of the Azure Hand views them as abominations, twisted reflections of the divine order, and seek to eradicate them using celestial magic. The Crimson Cartographers know that the Shadow-Goblins are attracted to Echoing Cairns, which amplify the effects of sorrow and loss, making it easier for them to manifest. The Skyclaw Griffons hunt them, perhaps instinctively recognizing them as a threat to the balance of nature. It is possible the Forgotten Smith knows how to eliminate them for good. The Chitinous Swarm avoid them, perhaps finding their essence distasteful. Will the Cobalt Corsairs make a new weapon to eliminate them?
