The Aetherium Void

The Aetherium Void is not a void in the traditional sense, an empty expanse of nothingness like the Null Fields. Instead, it is a location where Aetherium is actively unmade, broken down into its constituent elements and then… less than that. Imagine a cavern, its walls shimmering with residual Auric Resonance, but instead of coalescing into solid matter, the energy flows outwards, creating a zone of negation. This phenomenon is described in the Chapter of the Empty. The very air crackles with instability, and prolonged exposure causes objects to fade, their forms becoming indistinct and ephemeral, eventually ceasing to exist altogether.

The geography is ever-shifting, as the Aetherium Void slowly expands, consuming everything in its path. The floor is composed of a fine, gray dust, the remnants of countless objects that have been erased from existence. Strange, ethereal tendrils of energy writhe and pulse throughout the cavern, their movements hypnotic and unsettling. There are no permanent inhabitants, as anything that enters the Void is eventually unmade. However, the Shadow-Goblins are drawn to the edges of the Void, feeding on the residual energy of destruction. The Silent Monks of Durin's Peak speak of the Void with fear, describing it as a harbinger of The Great Unmaking. They believe the Void is linked to the Emptiness Forge. The Order of the Azure Hand seeks to understand the Void, hoping to harness its power to erase their enemies. The Forgotten Smith may have created the Void, but for what purpose? The Crimson Cartographers refuse to map the area, as their maps quickly become corrupted and inaccurate. Even the Cobalt Corsairs fear the Aetherium Storms that can emerge from it. Perhaps Valia, the Empty is drawn to this area. It is said that one can control the void by utilizing the Runes of Null.
