Chapter of the Empty
The 'Chapter of the Empty' is a growing collection of scrolls and stone tablets meticulously compiled by a small group of scholars within the Dwarven Abbey, known as the 'Void-Seekers.' Unlike Archivist Theron, who focuses on tangible knowledge and historical events, the Void-Seekers dedicate themselves to understanding the concept of 'emptiness' as a fundamental aspect of the universe. They posit that the Great Unmaking isn't merely an event to be feared, but a natural cycle of creation and destruction, a cosmic reset button. They believe that by understanding emptiness, they can not only mitigate the effects of the Unmaking but also harness its power for creation. Their research is highly controversial, clashing with the more traditional views upheld by the Keepers of the Cog, and their chamber is often locked.
Their primary source of knowledge comes from fragmented texts recovered from the Null Fields, translated using a combination of ancient dwarven runes and a form of meditation that borders on madness. These texts speak of a primordial void, a state of pure potentiality from which all things originate. One particular scroll details the existence of the Aetherium Void, a place within the Null Fields where Aetherium can be unmade, reverting to its constituent elements. The Void-Seekers are also fascinated by the Herald of Emptiness, believing they hold a key to understanding the nature of the void. They even have a Resonance Dampener to use during meditation. However, their research is not without its dangers. Prolonged exposure to the texts has been known to cause disorientation, memory loss, and even madness. Some whisper that the Void-Seekers have already begun to succumb to the influence of the void, becoming detached from reality and losing their sense of self. Could their research unleash the Chitinous Swarm? One seeker has discovered The Runes of Null, which helped decode texts. This chapter also discusses The Void Wyrms found in the Null Fields. The information is being stored in Valia, the Empty's chamber. Could they potentially find a way to corrupt the Sunstone of Aethelgard? Perhaps the Cobalt Corsairs will try to sell the information from these texts to the highest bidder. Their studies focus on the Emptiness Forge.
