Aetherium Storms

Aetherium Storms are not simply meteorological events; they are raw, untamed expressions of Auric Resonance, coalescing in the skies above the Iron-Grip Mountains. They are a spectacle of terrifying beauty, a swirling vortex of iridescent energy that crackles with raw power. Unlike ordinary thunderstorms, Aetherium Storms are not driven by temperature or pressure gradients. Instead, they form in areas where Aetherium deposits are particularly rich, or where the Veins of Whispers converge near the surface.

The sky churns with swirling colors, from deep violet to electric blue, as the storm draws energy from the surrounding environment. Lightning bolts, crackling with Aetherium Shards, arc across the sky, illuminating the peaks of the mountains in an ethereal glow. The air thrums with an intense energy, causing metal to vibrate and hair to stand on end. Prolonged exposure can lead to disorientation, nausea, and even temporary magical abilities, so it is written in the Chapter of Storms. The presence of the storms also disrupts the Skystrider Paths, and can bring down even the most seasoned Cobalt Corsairs.

The storms seem to be attracted to structures containing Aetherium. This can cause structures like the Aetherium Conduits to overload and release toxic energy, a key warning to those of the Order of the Azure Hand. Also, The Skyclaw Griffons tend to avoid these storms, which is an indication that it may be heading in that direction. There is talk that perhaps The Sunstone of Aethelgard has an influence over the storms, perhaps drawing the energy toward it. There are whispers that a new being, The Storm Caller, can influence the movements of the storms. Long ago, The Forgotten Smith created a set of Runes of Dissipation to prevent the storms from occurring, but that knowledge has been lost.
