Chapter of the Void
The Chapter of the Void... it is not a single text, but a collection of fragmented writings, recovered from those who have brushed against the nothingness beyond the Warped Gates, those who have stared into the Null Fields and returned… changed. These scraps, often scribbled on Obsidian Shards or etched into bone, speak of a place beyond comprehension, a realm where existence itself unravels, similar to the energies from the Aetherium Void.
Unlike the organized knowledge contained within Elder Borin's Chronicles, the Chapter of the Void is chaotic, contradictory, and often terrifying. One fragment might describe the sensation of being unmade, of one's very being dissolving into nothingness. Another might detail encounters with entities dwelling within the void, beings of pure entropy, the Void Wyrms, or whispers of the Herald of Emptiness. Still another may document the use of the Runes of Null in an attempt to control the void, but there are also new Runes of Dissolution.
Some believe the Chapter of the Void represents a heretical attempt to understand the Great Unmaking, a forbidden exploration of the darkness that threatens to consume all of existence. Others, like the Lost Pilgrims, see it as a vital source of knowledge, a guide to navigating the treacherous paths beyond reality. The Truthseekers are terrified of the information contained in the book, although Valia, the Empty seems to relish the texts. The Order of the Azure Hand seeks to censor the tome, for fear that some might seek to emulate the path to emptiness. Perhaps the knowledge can be used to stop the Chitinous Swarm. The Crimson Cartographers refuse to map the void, as it may taint their other works. There is even a mention of the Forgotten Forge of Oblivion, a machine designed to unmake the mountains. The secrets may even be revealed at a new location, the Abyss of Emptiness. The Sunstone of Aethelgard does not shine here, as the text warns, though the Silent Monks of Durin's Peak are said to be able to understand the language in which it is written, the Language of Emptiness. Perhaps the Cobalt Corsairs can create ships that exist within the void.
