Aerie of the Sky-Serpents

The Aerie of the Sky-Serpents is a legend whispered among the Skyclaw Griffons and the Cobalt Corsairs, a tale of airborne leviathans who control the winds above the Iron-Grip Mountains. These are not merely serpents, but sentient beings of immense power and knowledge, remnants of a pre-dwarven civilization that mastered the skies, known as the Aerilon Ascendancy. They control the skies through mastery of Auric Resonance. They are said to guard the secrets of Skystrider Paths, guiding lost airships and leading the Griffons to their prey.

According to Corsair legends, the Sky-Serpents are the last remnants of the Aerilon Ascendancy, a race that predates the dwarves and possessed unparalleled mastery of flight and aerial magic. These beings once ruled the skies, their majestic airships crisscrossing the heavens and their cities floating amongst the clouds. But their civilization was destroyed by a cataclysmic event, perhaps related to The Great Sundering, leaving only the Sky-Serpents as guardians of their forgotten legacy. This could be written in a newly discovered Chapter of Aerilon.

The serpents themselves are described as being immense in size, their scales shimmering with iridescent colors and their eyes burning with ancient wisdom. The Gnomish Tinkers would love to capture them. They are said to be able to control the winds with their minds, summoning storms and creating powerful updrafts to aid their flight. The Crimson Cartographers know that the serpent's scales are covered in Runes of Aerilon, which change with each season. Some claim that the Sky-Serpents possess the ability to communicate telepathically, sharing their knowledge and wisdom with those who are worthy. But approaching them is fraught with danger, as they are fiercely protective of their territory and will not hesitate to attack intruders. Is it possible that The Forgotten Smith knew these creatures? They may be able to destroy the Chitinous Swarm with powerful wind attacks. Perhaps they are connected to the Herald of Emptiness. A rare few scrolls in the Vault of Whispers mention their existence. Even the Silent Monks of Durin's Peak fear them. The Order of the Azure Hand believe they can control the serpents, and perform a Celestial Alignment Ritual. The Sunstone of Aethelgard resonates with their power.
