The Last Anvil
The Last Anvil… a whispered legend among the Celestial Smiths, a tale not of creation, but of closure. It is said to be the final forge, built not within the Iron-Grip Mountains, but upon the edge of the Null Fields, a place where existence itself begins to fray. It is the forge where Valia, the Empty had her power amplified. Unlike the Umbral Anvil, it is not a forge of darkness, but one of serene resignation, a place to dismantle and unmake. It is written that the Forgotten Smith, after realizing the futility of his struggles against the Great Unmaking, traveled to the edge of the void, and there, using what little remained of his skill and Auric Resonance, constructed the Last Anvil, so that others may follow his path.
The Last Anvil is not meant to craft weapons or armor, but to unmake them, to return matter to its original state of nothingness, detailed in a new Chapter of Erasure. It is believed that the anvil is made of pure Aetherium, infused with the essence of the void, and that those who touch it are forever changed. The Silent Monks of Durin's Peak fear the Last Anvil, believing it to be a blasphemy against the natural order, and guard the path. The path may be related to the Veil of Descent, or only traversable by Lost Pilgrims. The Order of the Azure Hand seeks to destroy it, viewing it as a threat to their Celestial Alignment Ritual. Should this be true, the Sunstone of Aethelgard would most certainly dim. Some legends say the Last Hope, a lost song, must be sung to activate the Runes of Dissolution.
It is said that the Last Anvil calls to those who have lost all hope, offering them a release from their suffering. Is it possible that the Cobalt Corsairs may be looking for a method to alleviate pain through the forge? Perhaps the knowledge is hidden within the Vault of Whispers, and guarded by the Stone Sentinels.
